Over four unhurried hours, we sail the Tagus on a private boat — your group only, no strangers. The route takes you past the great monuments of the riverfront: Belém Tower rising from the water's edge, the Discoveries Monument catching the last of the light, the 25 de Abril Bridge burning copper against the sky. There is no commentary to follow and no fixed itinerary to keep to. Just the river, the wine, and the city at its most beautiful.
The captain handles the sailing. But if you would like to take the helm for a stretch — and most guests do — that is entirely possible.
